Kalfresh Onion Shed

Stratco Australia partnered with Biscoe Wilson Architects on this clear span onion drying and processing facility for Kalfresh Veggies near Kalbar in Queensland.

The building faces the Cunningham Highway and as the first new-build of the Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct it establishes the architectural language of the 40ha site.

The design integrates:
* An undulating gable “cap” referencing the Scenic Rim’s mountain ranges;
* Vertical banded wall sheeting form a graphic onion barcode motif;
* A curated COLORBOND® palette that responds to surrounding rural earth tones and an orange nod to the company’s carrot growing heritage.

From early engagement through to delivery, our role was to ensure the architectural vision was realised, a balancing act that required expert logistics control, materials for structural performance and aesthetic precision.
